Speakers:
Don Paulson, MBA, FHFMA
Don is the Vice President of Finance Revenue Cycle Management at University Hospitals (Cleveland). Don is responsible for the development, interpretation, coordination and administration of the health system’s policies and operations for the revenue cycle which include patient accounting (CBO), patient access, and managed care contracting as well as HIM. In 2007, he assumed the responsibility of integrating the University Hospitals Management Group of Physicians into a coordinated revenue cycle operation.

Don is a Past President and Chairman of the Board of the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He has also served as Chairman of HFMA’s National Advisory Council and Chairman of the national HFMA CFO Forum.

Don has an MBA in Business Policy from Case Western Reserve University and a BS in Accounting from Miami University. Don has also achieved fellowship status with HFMA.

Christoper Mahler, CPA
Chris is a Manager in the Health and Human Services Group with Plante & Moran. He specializes in Hospital Reimbursement issues and works with facilities ranging from rural community hospitals to large urban health care systems.

Chris has 24 years of health care finance experience as a consultant, a hospital finance manager and a Medicare auditor. He was an Auditor with AdminaStar Federal (now NGS) and was the Director of Reimbursement with both The Ohio State University Hospitals and Mount Carmel Health Systems.

Chris started consulting in 1997 as a Health Care Manager with Ernst & Young. Prior to joining Plante & Moran in 2005, he was a co-owner of MTE Consulting, Inc. with Walt Theado for 5 years. Chris is a member of the Central Ohio HFMA, AICPA, and the Ohio Society of CPAs.

Anthea R. Daniels
Anthea Daniels, a Partner at Calfee, Halter & Griswald, LLP, focuses on healthcare, corporate and nonprofit law. She is also Co-Chair of the Health Care and Life Sciences practice group at Calfee, and her clients include hospitals, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, clinics, surgery centers, professional management companies and physician groups. Ms. Daniels earned her Bachelor’s degree from Denison University in 1986 and her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1989.

Ms. Daniels is a past president of both the American Health Lawyers Association and the Northeast Ohio Chapter of HFMA. She is also a member of the adjunct faculty at Case Western Reserve University Law School where she taught healthcare transactions.

She has also been recognized as a past recipient of Crane’s Cleveland Business Forty Under Forty, the YWCA Women of Professional Excellence, and Cleveland Magazine’s 50 Most Interesting People.
